RINA-KORAB Student Award 2008

On January 29th, 2009 during a regular club monthly meeting there were presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2008 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.

The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged “Preliminary optimization of the cross-section and the connection between pillars and decks’ structure in large car carriers with one row of pillars” by Marcin Skrzyński (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.

This has already been the fourth edition of RINA-KORAB Award, which is attracting more and more attention. The other nominees were:

  • Agnieszka Jędrzejczak, for “A concept design of a multipurpose ship with an increased ecology standard for the West Africa Line”;
  • Bartosz Puchowski, for “Numeric optimization of a hull for Frisian Solar Challenge 2008”;
  • Paweł Pasik, for “The design of an anchor-mooring winch for a tanker ship of 256 meters length”.

All the nominees were awarded one year f.o.c. TOP KORAB membership and the winner additionally two year f.o.c. RINA membership.
