RINA-KORAB Student Award 2009
On January 28th, 2009 during a regular club monthly meeting there were
presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship
Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for
THE 2009 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.
The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged
"Design of azimuth controllable pitch propeller of 1 MW power"
by Marcin Zagórski (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.
This has already been the fifth edition of RINA-KORAB Award, which is attracting more and more attention.
The other nominees were Łukasz Hirt and Bartosz Sułkowki.

RINA-KORAB Student Award 2008
On January 29th, 2009 during a regular club monthly meeting there were
presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship
Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for
THE 2008 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.
The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged
"Preliminary optimization of the cross-section and the connection between pillars
and decks' structure in large car carriers with one row of pillars"
by Marcin Skrzyński (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.
This has already been the fourth edition of RINA-KORAB Award, which is attracting more and more attention. The other nominees were:
- Agnieszka Jędrzejczak, for "A concept design of a multipurpose ship with an increased ecology standard for the West Africa Line";
- Bartosz Puchowski, for "Numeric optimization of a hull for Frisian Solar Challenge 2008";
- Paweł Pasik, for "The design of an anchor-mooring winch for a tanker ship of 256 meters length".
All the nominees were awarded one year f.o.c. TOP KORAB membership and the
winner additionally two year f.o.c. RINA membership.

On November 29th, 2007 during a regular club monthly meeting there were
presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship
Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for
THE 2007 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.
The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged
"Polioptimization of two chosen variants of steel sandwich panels connections"
by Karol Niklas (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.
All the nominees were awarded one year f.o.c. TOP KORAB membership and the
winner additionally two year f.o.c. RINA membership.

On November 30th, 2006 during a regular club monthly meeting there were
presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship
Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for
THE 2006 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.
The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged
"Stern quarter ramp/door for 6700 car capacity car carrier built in Okpo Daewoo Shipyard"
by Piotr Jałowski (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.
All the nominees were awarded one year f.o.c. TOP KORAB membership and the
winner additionally two year f.o.c. RINA membership.
We were sincerely honoured by the presence of Mr Trevor Blakeley,
the Chief Executive of RINA, who also on December 1st held a meeting with
the students and research workers of the University.

On November 24th, 2005 during a regular club monthly meeting there were
presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship
Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for
THE 2005 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.
The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged
"Hydraulically driven deck crane with 450kN lifting capacity"
by Michał Jusyk (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.
The other three theses nominated for the Award were presented by Przemysław Dysarz,
Marek Kraskowski and Jarosław Wi¶niewski.
All the nominees were awarded one year f.o.c. TOP KORAB membership and the
winner additionally two year f.o.c. RINA membership.

Kindly please be informed that professor Jerzy Doerffer has been honoured
with a certificate for 60 years continuous membership in RINA Institution. The
certificate was handed over during RINA/KORAB Joint Branch meeting in May 2005.
