RINA-KORAB Student Award 2015

On March 19th, 2015 there were presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2015 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD
The Committee comprised of RINA and TOP KORAB representatives adjudged „Evaluation of the accuracy of ship resistance prediction methods including Computational Fluid Dynamics – case study” by Agnieszka Piekło (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis. This was the tenth edition of RINA-KORAB Award. The other nominees were:

  • Wojciech Fiłonowicz, for „Analysis of the structural response of the Lower Riser Package module during the landing on underwater production head”,
  • Blanka Golecka, for „Application of Strain Measurements in the Experimental Modal Analysis”,
  • Anna Wierzbicka, for „The influence of oversizing a fillet weld thickness to amount of welding angular distortion.”.

For the first time in RINA-KORAB Award history the winne is a women.

For the first time, one of the speakers was giving a presentation from a distance.

On March 5th, 2014 during a regular club monthly meeting there were presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2014 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD
The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged „Construction of articulated stinger for S-lay pipeline installation method” by Tomasz Werchowicz (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.

This was the ninth edition of RINA-KORAB Award. The other nominees were:

  • Michał Branczewski, for „Strength analysis of telescoping offshore research tower”,
  • Jakub Sokołowski, for „Project of power plant for a 40 000 tons deadweight chemical tanker with special attention to vapor control system”,
  • Krzysztof Wróbel, for „Conceptual design of a navigation system for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle to be used in bathymetry surveys”.
