RINA-KORAB Student Award 2015

On March 19th, 2015 there were presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2015 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD
The Committee comprised of RINA and TOP KORAB representatives adjudged „Evaluation of the accuracy of ship resistance prediction methods including Computational Fluid Dynamics – case study” by Agnieszka Piekło (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis. This was the tenth edition of RINA-KORAB Award. The other nominees were:

  • Wojciech Fiłonowicz, for „Analysis of the structural response of the Lower Riser Package module during the landing on underwater production head”,
  • Blanka Golecka, for „Application of Strain Measurements in the Experimental Modal Analysis”,
  • Anna Wierzbicka, for „The influence of oversizing a fillet weld thickness to amount of welding angular distortion.”.

For the first time in RINA-KORAB Award history the winne is a women.

For the first time, one of the speakers was giving a presentation from a distance.

RINA-KORAB Student Award 2014

On March 5th, 2014 during a regular club monthly meeting there were presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2014 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD
The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged „Construction of articulated stinger for S-lay pipeline installation method” by Tomasz Werchowicz (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.

This was the ninth edition of RINA-KORAB Award. The other nominees were:

  • Michał Branczewski, for „Strength analysis of telescoping offshore research tower”,
  • Jakub Sokołowski, for „Project of power plant for a 40 000 tons deadweight chemical tanker with special attention to vapor control system”,
  • Krzysztof Wróbel, for „Conceptual design of a navigation system for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle to be used in bathymetry surveys”.

RINA-KORAB Student Award 2012

On February 21st, 2013 during a regular club monthly meeting there were presented three final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2012 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.

The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged “Analysis, design and equipment selection of inland twin-barge cooperating with a lifting equipment” by Michał Burzycki (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.

This has been the eighth edition of RINA-KORAB Award. The other nominees were:

  • Karina Brzoskowska, for “Developing a concept of a small innovative hydrofoil. Foils hydrodynamic characteristics.”;
  • Magdalena Gaca, for “Test and Finite Element Model correlation of vertical axis wind turbine.”

RINA-KORAB Student Award 2011

On February 23rd, 2012 during a regular club monthly meeting there were presented three final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2011 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.

The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged “A concept of the system of main drive with hydrostatic gear for double-ended car passenger ferry SKS type” by Tomasz Domański (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.

This has already been the seventh edition of RINA-KORAB Award, which is attracting more and more attention. The other nominees were:

  • Ewelina Ciba, for “Influence of the dimensional relationship of the nature of the pontoon righting levers – contribution to the assessment of changes in international regulations for stability”;
  • Paweł Bianga, for “The Analysis of resistance and propulsion system of high speed wave piercing catamaran.”

   

RINA-KORAB Student Award 2009

On January 28th, 2010 during a regular club monthly meeting there were presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2009 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.

The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged “Design of azimuth controllable pitch propeller of 1 MW power” by Marcin Zagórski (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.

This has already been the fifth edition of RINA-KORAB Award, which is attracting more and more attention. The other nominees were Łukasz Hirt and Bartosz Sułkowki.

  

RINA-KORAB Student Award 2008

On January 29th, 2009 during a regular club monthly meeting there were presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2008 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.

The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged “Preliminary optimization of the cross-section and the connection between pillars and decks’ structure in large car carriers with one row of pillars” by Marcin Skrzyński (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.

This has already been the fourth edition of RINA-KORAB Award, which is attracting more and more attention. The other nominees were:

  • Agnieszka Jędrzejczak, for “A concept design of a multipurpose ship with an increased ecology standard for the West Africa Line”;
  • Bartosz Puchowski, for “Numeric optimization of a hull for Frisian Solar Challenge 2008″;
  • Paweł Pasik, for “The design of an anchor-mooring winch for a tanker ship of 256 meters length”.

All the nominees were awarded one year f.o.c. TOP KORAB membership and the winner additionally two year f.o.c. RINA membership.

On November 29th, 2007 during a regular club monthly meeting there were presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2007 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.

The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged “Polioptimization of two chosen variants of steel sandwich panels connections” by Karol Niklas (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.

All the nominees were awarded one year f.o.c. TOP KORAB membership and the winner additionally two year f.o.c. RINA membership.

RINA-KORAB Student Award 2006

On November 30th, 2006 during a regular club monthly meeting there were presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2006 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.

The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged “Stern quarter ramp/door for 6700 car capacity car carrier built in Okpo Daewoo Shipyard” by Piotr Jałowski (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.

All the nominees were awarded one year f.o.c. TOP KORAB membership and the winner additionally two year f.o.c. RINA membership.

We were sincerely honoured by the presence of Mr Trevor Blakeley, the Chief Executive of RINA, who also on December 1st held a meeting with the students and research workers of the University.

On November 24th, 2005 during a regular club monthly meeting there were presented four final year projects by graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdansk University of Technology nominated for

THE 2005 RINA-KORAB STUDENT NAVAL ARCHITECT AWARD.

The Committee comprised of RINA, TOP KORAB and University representatives adjudged “Hydraulically driven deck crane with 450kN lifting capacity” by Michał Jusyk (MSc Eng) to be the best presented thesis.

The other three theses nominated for the Award were presented by Przemysław Dysarz, Marek Kraskowski and Jarosław Wiśniewski.

All the nominees were awarded one year f.o.c. TOP KORAB membership and the winner additionally two year f.o.c. RINA membership.
